Kinect & Blender

Kinect is a motion sensing input device by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game console and Windows PCs. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands.

This program provides an interoperability between the Blender and Kinect sensor. We have taken the set of skeleton points found by the Kinect API and used it as an input for controlling the armature. The application is able to send the data over the network, thus it is not necessary to have the Blender and Kinect installed on the same place. The following pictures shows the running application with detected skeleton points and the resulting armature in Blender window.
