We were inspired by the stereoscopic extension of Blender 2.45 (2010) [www.kiv.zcu.cz]. Unfortunate, this version is no longer updated and was limited to only one specific stereoscopic display (SHARP stereoscopic notebook). Therefore we have developed our extension to be more general and provide a variety of stereoscopic modes.
The main modifications of the source code we have made can be summarised as follows
- Render characteristics are set before the scene redrawing.
- The scene is generated in two iterations.
- We need to adjust the camera transformation matrix for each view (left and right).
- Only the 3D View is rendered stereoscopically.
